We think everyone deserves straightforward answers when there are questions relating to garage doors - that's why we've gathered some of the answers to the most common questions we get asked by our customers. Browse our FAQs below!
How do I prevent rust in my system?
Rust tends to build up and spread primarily on steel parts primarily when the material is exposed to high moisture areas. The best way of preventing this is to obtaining stainless steel components and zinc coated garage doors. If you are not in the process of replacing them, you can apply special overlays, designed to protect steel from erosion.
What are moving gears?
These are the moving parts inside your garage door opener. They are essential for the unit to work and are typically made from plastic. They can, however, wear down over time - a broken gear is one of the most common causes for an opener to malfunction.
How can I tell if my garage door is energy efficient?
A very well-insulated garage door should have a high R-value but also double or triple layer panels. However, don't follow the logic that an R-Value of 18 will give double energy efficiency than 9 - it doesn't usually work like that. We recommend you stick to a value of around 12 and reinforce your insulation with good weather seals.
My garage door panels keep getting dirty
Given the fact that your garage door is regularly exposed to the elements, this comes as no surprise. The simplest way to handle this is to plan a regular cleaning routine of detergent, water, and a sponge - you could even tie this into your routine for cleaning your car.
